Just FYI the rubber bands did not work, broke as soon as I put backrest on.  I tried some medical tape, it sticks pretty good without getting sticky like electrical tape and is easy to tear into little trip. It appears to work pretty good for now, will see how long it lasts.  Will check into the 0 rings next time.

Damn, if the rubber bands didn't work I doubt that the inner tube would be any better.  That rattle is the single reason I went beck to the fixed mount backrest.  If I want to take it off it only takes a few minutes to pull the bolts and put them back in with the backrest off.  And you don't have that ugly roller sticking out.

I wouldn't think the rubber bands would work.  Rubber bands do not hold up over time and are not very durable. Eventually they get hard and crumble.
