I wonder what would happen if you put like 3 or 4 quarts in their then crunk it reved it . Then put the rest in ? I am sure someone has done that b4.

This is the recommended procedure.  It's on page 6-12 of the owner's manual.

At 60k I'm still using original bolts and crush washers and have had no leaks. If they start dripping I'll replace them then.

Also, do not use a tool to tighten the filter, hand tighten only. I've seen too many people over-tighten their filter and then have to destroy it to get it off. Mine comes off by hand and have never had to use a tool.

Speaking of crush washers I get them from AutoZone or Adavance Auto. If I find the part number I will post it.  I even change the washers on my cars/trucks.

Please do.  It would be a whole lot more convenient than going to my dealer.

I use a wrench on the K&N filter, but I give it no pressure. Once it feels snug I back off.

I'm bad I guess, I've been reusing the aluminum crush gaskets on my Concours for 23 years and it's not leaking yet.  I'm just careful to make sure the gasket orientation is the same because if I flip it over then I'm sure there would be a leak.

I figure it this way, if there is a leak it will be more like a slow seep and the gasket can be swapped at the next oil change.

LMAO !!!! I always flip the crush gasket over and put it on the opposite way. Never had a leak so I guess it doesnt much matter which way it goes on.

I looked in the garage and well if you saw my garage you would understand.  I could not find the bag with them in it.... But, I will get the part number in a few days.

I'd love to start buying all my oil related stuff at an auto store.  Been using amsoil for the last 2 years, but tired of paying the dealer's price for that stuff (That's the only place I can get it)  I'd like to switch to mobil1 on my next change. Anyone know what mobil1 oil filter would fit our bikes?

And yes, Jim, please post that gasket part number!  That would make my life a lot easier, as there is a parts store just a couple miles from my house.

Thanks!

Mobil-1 M1MC-134 (Raider Rick is correct) it appears that the old numbers are M1-108 ( Length 2.5) and M1-110 (Length 3.25)

Here is a link to most of the filters that fit the Raider. I am not endorsing the use of any filter just for information. I personally use K&N 303C..

    ;D  I knew that . Jus wondering what would happen. I think that the oil thing wil hold more than what it says and wondered if anyones done it on accident.

What are magnetic drain plugs?  I'm not familiar with these.

Plugs made with a magnetic potential to attract metal fillings in the oil, to prevent them from circulating.  I have a faily powerful magnet on the end of my oil filter to accomplish the same task.
