I wonder what would happen if you put like 3 or 4 quarts in their then crunk it reved it . Then put the rest in ? I am sure someone has done that b4.
Speaking of crush washers I get them from AutoZone or Adavance Auto. If I find the part number I will post it. I even change the washers on my cars/trucks.
At 60k I'm still using original bolts and crush washers and have had no leaks. If they start dripping I'll replace them then. Also, do not use a tool to tighten the filter, hand tighten only. I've seen too many people over-tighten their filter and then have to destroy it to get it off. Mine comes off by hand and have never had to use a tool.
I'm bad I guess, I've been reusing the aluminum crush gaskets on my Concours for 23 years and it's not leaking yet. I'm just careful to make sure the gasket orientation is the same because if I flip it over then I'm sure there would be a leak.I figure it this way, if there is a leak it will be more like a slow seep and the gasket can be swapped at the next oil change.
