Have Cobra Speedster Swept pipes and adding BAK
« on: Aug 26, 2012, 09:35:46 PM »
Hey guys, new on this forum and don't usually post much.  Joined up on the 22nd of Aug.  I have a 2008 Raider S which has Cobra Speedster Swept pipes, I'm getting ready to install a Baron's BAK.  I've looked at a lot of your posts, great information by the way, and I think I remember seeing someone post something about not needing a Power Commander V set up.  My bike is fast anyway but would like to give it more air.  Has anyone installed pipes and the BAK without the PC V.  I'm curious about how your bike ran after the mods. w/o the PC V.  And, is there a way to enrich the throttle bodies without the PC V mod.  I had a Road King with the Stage 1 air mod and after market pipes which made a big difference in hp and torque and that didn't have a Power Commander but had to remap the ECM. And of your thoughts would be appreciated.  Thanks.  Tom

If you do both pipes and BAK then you should really do a fuel processor. The added air will lean out the mix a lot and could cause damage to the engine.

I have a PCV sitting in tbe garage with auto tune. I swapped to the Cobra Power Pro.

I can't atest ro how it will run without cause I've always had a processor since I've done engine mods.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, 'Wow! What a Ride!

I used the Cobra Power Pro  when I installed my pipes . Idid my airbox  the next . But around her its pretty much standard if you do the air kit you ad  a PC or Cobra Power Pro.
Mine improved performace and fule milage.

Thanks for the quick replies.  I'll probably wait to install the BAK until I can get a fuel processor.  Been reading on here that the PC V works pretty well.  Any other suggestions on fuel processors besides the Cobra and PC.

I think those are the 2 most used. I went Cobra  as its plug and play no mapping , no dyno needed . I have no known dyno with in  60 miles of me . So Cobra was my first choice.  .

Thanks for the welcome guys.  I really enjoy this forum and the friendlyness that seems to be abound.  Right now thinking about a ride up to the White Mtns., in New Hampshire if you weren't aware of my location.  Usually an all day trip that will cover about 250 miles.  Went Saturday but that was with a group of seventeen bikes, today will be a solo run.

@JuJuBee...thanks for the offer on your PCV...right now not sure whether to make the mods or just enjoy what I've got.  My other hobby is firearms, being semi-retired and part-time Home Depot and the economy the way that it is I may just enjoy what I've got.  Almost as fast as my son's M-109 which has the exhaust, BAK and PC modifications.  Hoping you guys have a great week.

I tried putting some pictures up on the board but came up with some error message.  After a couple of attempts I logged out.  Do I need to try and make them smaller.

Most of my pics are 500 to 700K and they load with no problems.  If yours are larger then perhaps reducing will allow you to post.
