Who's in the know bout LED lighthing
« on: Oct 20, 2012, 06:42:32 pm »
I bought my raider used, the original owner put one strip of amber colored led lights under the tank. I like this look but it kinda looks silly with just those few lights. There is a guy where I work (dont really know him that well) that has a harley with what seems like hundreds of those little lights...to many imho, but, I will say...who ever did his lights...you are hard pressed to find even one of them when they are not lit.
Who has this kind of setup? Is it costly to have it done? What is the average number of lights installed? I would like somewhere between what I have now and what is on that fellas harley.
Any tips or info at all would be cool. Thanx

A lot of us have gone with the Joe Florida LED's.  THey have kits in many varieties...180LED, 207LED.  I have a 207 kit I'm waiting to put on.  Haven't had time yet.  You can get them in multi color or single color and it has a controller for various effects like strobe, constant, breathing etc.   http://www.joeflorida.net/

There are other companies as well.

I have Magical Wizard Lights from Custom Dynamics. They also have many different sizes of kits. They can changed to six or seven basic colors or they will gradually change and can be locked in to virtually any color you want. Install was very simple and very easy to hide.

Check out this thread by Mastercam:

I used the same kits by XKGlow, and installed 20 light pods and 17 light strips (multi-colored).  The LED project has evolved - I lit my spike, added pulsing lights to the dash, and have plans for more...The spike thread is here and has the LEDs lit

      +1 for Xkglow.

This is my shield. I bear it before me into battle, but it is not mine alone. It protects my brother on my left. It protects my city. I will never let my brother out of its shadow nor my city out of its shelter. I will die with my shield before me facing the enemy.

+3on the xk, I did just have to reset the controller on the bike though. It took all of 2 minutes, and didn't even get a sip of my coffee before I was done.

I have Custom Dynamics Cruiser Level 3 package with added wheel lights and then two additional strips from AutoZone.  I'm very happy with them and would like to add a few more at some point.

Ok...so...what is the average number of lights...or is that not a question that can be answered? I saw the one post for a kit with 180 or 207....is that a lot....little...or somewhere inbetween? I want mine to look good but I dont want airplanes following me to help them land. Thoughts....Or maybe yall can light yours up and take a pic and post it with the number of lights you have.

The Wheel Lights are the Custom Dynamics Stingerz Wheel Lights.  I just mounted them to the inside of my Reaper fender.  The instructions recommended the back side of the calipers, but the calipers get moved around, so the fender made more sense to me.

Number of lights can very on placement. if you get it placed well you'll get a whole lot more light out of it.
