I read some of these posts and just have to scratch my head. Do some of really feel you are entitled to have some say in a forum where you have absolutely no financial interest in? Honestly, you'll leave because you don't like how it looks? The content isn't important? Amazing.
If they would let us contribute, I'm sure there would be plenty with a site supporter badge.  There are many people contribute prior to the buy out so yes, I would say there is a financial interest.
I have big plans...

I agree with sarka2088, leave it the way it is.  I checked out that site & it does not have the feel of this site or the ease of checking things out.  Stay away VBulletin!!

Its going to more about them and less about us! We should try to fight back if we can how about a poll and Mr T are you behind us? This site has been awesome we all have learned so much about are bikes and also
about each other, we are one big extended family and I would hate to lose that. I know my bike would not look like it does today if it had not been for this site, I would have a lot more money but thats another thing. Say no to VBuletin Upgrade, so whats are next step?

As a "member" of this forum I believe this forum is what it is because of all of us.

As an "administrator" I will support whatever decision the majority of the forum members decide.

Don't like it. Feels impersonal and commercially plastic to me.

From the front it looks cold and impersonal. But if you open uip a thread and take a look it's not as bad. Researching and saving things is much easier. Oops time to go. Out here.

When this forum was sold, the writing was on the wall. The group that owns this forum will always do what THEY want. When THEY change this forum's format, I'LL do what I want, which is leave.

My worry is that i've been on numerous forums that have undergone such a change and the lost of threads, posts, pics, links, and messages were incredibly large even though the ownership and admins stated it we wouldn't lose anything.  It killed these forums and within a year or so after the change barely any of the old guard who were not moderators remained.  To me its not worth the risk.

The people, the knowledge, the pics, the sense of brotherhood is what makes this site different.  Lose that and you lose the backbone that makes the site.  Change isn't always good.

Please don't change this site!

Hello all,

We are thinking of converting the site over to VBulletin (I am sure many of you have used VBulletin before and know it's a lot more user friendly).

Right now we are using SimplePortal to run this forum, but VBulletin would make things run more smoothly and give a lot more in terms of functionality to users.

Here is an example of a VBulletin Forum: http://www.hondarebelforum.com/

Take a look and let me know what you think. It will help the site run a lot smoother and any issues (like spam) can be dealt with a lot better.

I also attached a mock copy of what the skin would look like on the new forum.

Once converted, things would look pretty similar, posts would stay the same and your usernames and passwords would work as is!

Regards,

Mo
How is it more user friendly? Explain Why.
            Run more smoothly? Explain how.
More in terms of functionality? Explain where.
Smoother and what spam? Again Explain.

Let it be known that I am not a noobie when it comes to selling or flipping web sites and how this business works.
How about a little honesty.
Please explain that you will do whatever is in your best interest anyway in time.
Please tell us how the previous owner of this site did not make a profit by letting you take it over.
Please tell us how you have to make a profit to maintain it and how you will improve on it.
Personally I like it as is but understand your interest in making changes and how it would benefit you. But > You are not dealing with a bunch of mindless people here. You are dealing with working class people that don't have time to play guessing games. Tell them whats up and why. You have more time than they do so get busy and up front and get into some detail.
Be up front and explain how you also need to profit from your investment and what the real changes will be and maybe more members would be more understanding.
And how should we address you? MO or Adam? And why aren't you part of this conversation?
I wish I knew what this site sold for because I believe as a whole and thru donations this group could have found some better structured organization to operate it more efficiently but that's a debate for another day.

It will be the same people with the same content in a different layout and graphics.

Why is it even an issue? Because things won't look the same or you might have to look around the screen for what you want to click on until you get used to it?

I like the look of the new skin and vbulletin forums I've been on have worked well. I say knock yourselves out. If people decide to leave because of a new look and layout then they really didn't want to be here in the first place.

It won't be the same if we lose posts pics and threads.  Remember we've lost riders on this forum both through wrecks and through drama.  Their contributions shouldn't be lost just so somebody can make more money by reselling the site making spam protection a hair more convenient.  Its a pathetic excuse.  the site runs fine the way it is...they haven't given a legitimate (must change or else) reason to change it.  I highly doubt any site can make a format change without losing posts.  Heard this song and dance too many times and when the change occurs it always ends poorly.

I understand not losing any content at all, and I understand the attachment and feelings toward this particular board and what members have gained from it personally and socially. I don't slight that at all. However, it seems like there's a general feeling that it all will end with this move and I don't think that's the case. Nothing that matters should really change. The same people will be here and will make it the same place as it is now. It will just look different and require a little learning curve to get used to it again.
