I just realized the only other forum I visit daily (another hobby) is using VBulletin.  It was an upgrade to the old software (no idea what it was) and in some ways it's better, but in others it can be a real pain and I fight it often.  It could just be from poor configuration too. It did take a couple of months to work out all of the kinks.  It also has a limitation to the number of private messages you can store, but again that could all be the way it's configured.

It's all about the way the admin configures it. I do believe that VBulletin will give you a lot of features that will take user experience to the next level.

I say test it on the Stryker forum first and let's see how that one goes.  They don't have as much to lose. Especially since most of them have moved here.

I do like Ares suggestion on trying this new concept on the Stryker site first… We here could at least get to taste this new layout and then see if it leaves a bad taste… ???

.... and the Stryker site is probably saying.... try it on the Raider site first.   ;D

The Stryker forum is doing very well now....Mo has made the same posting over there about the possible change - and getting a lot of the same feedback both pro & con

From my understanding the Stryker apocalypse has been resolved... in a large part... by our forum creator... Ace.

I've been dealing with Vbulletin on my Honda Sabre forum (my first bike) for about 6 years. It's gone through a couple of up-grades and each time there's been a learning curve. Those of you not wanting to change are worrying and bitching for nothing. Take your head out of the sand for once.
Go here, http://www.thesabrehood.org/thehood/forum.php, and check it out. You're not going to see the full site as a guest, so sign up, we don't care what you ride. We all started out on a Sabre and a lot of us have moved on to something else, but the people are still the same.

Remember, it's not about what you ride, it's that you ride. It's not the software that makes a good site, it's the members.

The format looks similar to that of the fish forum that I use. It is not bad once you get used to it. I vote yes.

What do you think ACE?? After all this site was your baby... Your input probably holds more water than any other... you think the change will take something away from the uniquness of this site? I don't want to be just another copy of all these other websites. We stand out for a reason... just don't want to loose that.....

Mo is running the same poll on the Stryker forum - it should be important to share how both forums feel and opinions

When this forum was sold, the writing was on the wall. The group that owns this forum will always do what THEY want. When THEY change this forum's format, I'LL do what I want, which is leave.

The AC forum is a year old.  Trouble isn't the board its can't get enough pistols imported

BC is ran very loose  hijacking of threads  pretty common . Its really a lot like here  lots of info and chat between members and relaxed moderation .  We try for the family around the dinner table  talking  idea.  The 2 ads are member owned   I charge  dollar a day for ad  3 mo min.
