Yeah I also have the same squelched home page and I don't like it.
As Paladin said; "When this forum was sold, the writing was on the wall."
Because of my knowledge how all of this works I also stated then that there would be issues to deal with as time passed.
The previous owner of this site was also asked not to be stranger here and now he is more than ever.
I have no problems betting that it's not over yet. This site does not belong to us so we will always be on the short end of the stick.

As much as the majority of us don't want this to change it very well might.  You can either be bitter about it or you can adapt.  Everyone had an opportunity to vote but in the end, it is up to the owners.  I vote no change but I won't abandon this group of great people if it does.
I have big plans...

Nor will I but I would like to see it stay as it is.

I wont leave either. I agree with Bill i to want to see it stay the way it is . But i guess at least The Admins Adam D ?? And Mo were good enough to hear our input. I have been seeing Mo online more often. But havent seen any posting really.
I wonder if Mo has a Raider ??

I would think that if Mo had a Raider he would have been a member long ago.

I'm all for change if it's for the better.Wanting to make an informed decision,I read through this entire tread and visited other forums as well as those listed here as examples. Now I remember why I never joined a forum before I found this place. They all feel so cold and lifeless to me.The general look isn't really inviting.Makes me feel like a kid walking into an old relative's plastic covered living room.I kept expecting for somebody to yank me out and say "no dear...We're not allowed to play in here."
And the ad situation is insane.I fully understand the need to pay for upkeep, and even make a buck, but the amount of ads is unbelievable. You can't even read a tread in peace 'cause they even have ads sandwiched between posts.Annoying...I see why spam isn't a problem : spammers get their own link or ad space. If it's paid for,it ain't spam...
As for added features like the garage,I didn't see anything that I can't do here already. If I want to see a member's bike,I click on him forum name and then on his photo gallery.Simple.Other features? Can't say,I didn't stick around long enough...

I don't know the first thing about keeping a website going,so maybe Vbulletin does makes it easier for owners and administrators. But as a member,it seem to me that I have more to lose than to gain.I'm not much of a post whore, but I do visit the forum every day,and I don't think I'd be coming as often as I do if it didn't look and feel like it does.

And MO,I appreciate you giving forum members the opportunity to voice our opinion before making the final decision.
The biggest mistake of my life was not buying a raider sooner

AdamD - who turned his duties over to Mo - are BOTH employees of Motorcycle.com.  AdamD was our "voice" back to the owners.  Therefore I think it's safe to assume that Mo is also our voice back to the owners of this site.  Whether or not we change to VBulletin is waaay higher up the food chain than Mo (no offense to Mo).  Also, as an employee of Motorcycle.com, he may or may not own a motorcycle.... just as one could work for Learjet and not own one.  Being an admin on this site, and probably others.. is his job.

All fine a dandy.... If they decide to change anyway then what would be the purpose of this poll ??? as the saying goes... "don't piss down my back then tell me it's raining" I think one of the most degrading actions is asking someones oppinion yet knowing all along you have no intention of taking it into concideration.....  >:(

Asking someones opinion and then not using it is why it is called an opinion. They aren't asking permission, just for our thoughts. Don't confuse the two. VBulletin is a very nice overlay. I use it on several other forums. The main difference between here and other forums is the home page, most places don't use it. The skin they show still has one, so honestly it wont feel all that different, you still click buttons, type responses and make mostly useless statements on the internet. In other words same fun different look.
The above post is strictly the opinion of the poster, disregard as necessary.

If the above post is in RED then it was a moderator talking, you should pay attention.

Believe me brother I have not mixed up those two things in quite a long time. My point of contention is the fact that a poll has also been issued and if I understand your interpretation its that even if the majority of members here do not want the change they can just suck it up since they (owners) don’t need our permission. I guess that’s the way it is nowadays. Shut your hole and swallow….

Personally it it were something I owned and was paying to maintain, I probably wouldn't even ask the members how they feel if it was that would save me work, cost or time.

I'm not sure why we were asked or why there's a poll, but at least they're taking the time to find out how the members feel and that's worth something.

When ever a company (in this case - Motorcycle.com) buys another company (in this case -  RSR) they must decide to run/maintain mutliple software products (theirs and the company they just bought) or consolidate.  The smart move is to consolidate -  if at all possible.   Maintaining multiple software products is not cost effective.  I've been in the software business for 35+ years and that's just the way it is.  So, my bet is.... it's going to happen.  If now now, somewhere down the road.
