VBulletin, Yes or No
« on: Nov 25, 2012, 01:43:02 am »
There seems to be a huge interest on the proposed upgrade of the forum to the VBulletin format.  Vote your concern and let's see how the majority feels.  I have allowed the changing of your vote for those that may be undecided or for those that may have their minds changed either way, for or against.  You are free to post any comments of concerns you may have either way.  Let's hear it guys and gals, what do you think?

I started it and I will vote that we don't change, We are a pretty tight knit group here and I feel that the "upgrade" will take a lot of that away.

Am I the only one ignorant of what VBulletin is and how it will change what we're doing here.....or am I the only one humble enough to say I don't know?  Either way, I'd like to weigh in on it but I don't want to make an uninformed choice.    :D  Enlighten me Bill, please.   :raider:

I recently had a Honda Fury and was fairly active on that board.   The Home Page of the Fury board was laid out a little better in my opinion, maybe a bit more user friendly.  Other then that, I think they are all basically the same once you learn to navigate your way around.  Being new to this board I  am still learning my way around this one.... But so far no complaints

I personally like this board the way it is . It seems to be a working functioning site . We have active admins and moderators not only in the background but in the midst of us keeping the ball going . So may as well keep it way it is.

      If it ain't broke....
Personally,I don't know if it would work better or not.But the forum works just fine the way it is IMO.

PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU VOTE: 5O
If you change the format of this forum you are going to lose memberships, the reason this forum is so popular is because of the way it is viewed and it almost feels like you are talking to that person at that moment in real face to face conversation. I have never been on a forum that has that feeling and if you take that away we will not have that closeness anymore. I say no to this new skin. Its going to more about them and less about us! We should try to fight back if we can. This site has been awesome we all have learned so much about are bikes and also
about each other, we are one big extended family and I would hate to lose that. I know my bike would not look like it does today if it had not been for this site, I would have a lot more money but thats another thing. Say no to VBuletin Upgrade, so whats the next step?

:agree: budaman, as has been said, "if it ain't broke don't fix it", and it's a long way from being broke. 8)

My first question would be are we going to lose anything...post, our saved messages, our inbox.  If so its not worth it.  Spam has been controlled well here so far.

I agree with those saying if it ain't broke don't fix it.

While I agree with you, how else do you propose the site get financed? If things we fine financially, do you think the site would have been sold to motorcycle.com?
