Lowering kit

  Hey guys i havnt been on in awhile. I just bought a lowering kit from la choppers included heavy duty spring and dog bones. I also have a 240 metz rear tire. I can turn a wrench but would it b better to just pay someone to do it for me? Or r there possibly someone in the houston area that would like to help me? Possibly? Thanks in advance

It is not that big of a deal. I did mine. I believe there are instructions on the site somewhere with pictures and evrything. I printed them out and the copilot read them and kept me going in the right directions between beers. [three beer job]

Well i cant say about the lowering kit . But i can give you this advice that you (Will) run into when you put your rear tire on  if your going to do it yourself. To make the job easier . Go ahead and yank the rear fender. And zip tie the brake caliper bracket to the rotor. Makes a near impossible job. A whole lot easier to do . Especially if you have another set of helping hands. Once i did that . Slid right in their.

I just did it myself-wasnt too big of deal, the instuctions are pretty good that come with dogbones and springs. I think you can handle it
It might go faster if you have someone to help get the bolts loose and out.

I did the LA choppers lowering kit, it took me about 2 1/2 hours. I added a link to there video of them installing it. They show but do not actually tell you in the video that you need to either put a block under the rear tire or have a second jack to jack the rear tire up for clearance to remove and re-install the shock assembly.

  Will i need a tool to compress the spring?  My local dealer wants $230 to install the kit for me. I say nah nah.

There are plenty of threads and youtube videos to help you do the job.  A helper is a good idea, but not mandatory. 

I did not need a spring compressor because there is enough thread to completely decompress the spring on the shock.

First-timers should plan on 2-2.5 hours but a tech who has done this at least one time can do the job in 1.5 hours.  If you go the deler route, you should be able to get it installed for about half what your dealer quoted.  Did his price include the kit?
