Totally depends on where you will be going, the Rockies cover thousands of miles from as far south as the Mexican/American boarder to the Canadian boarder.  Go to any states tourist info and do a search and a multitude of suggestions will come up.  Have a great trip, ride safe and post pics when you return home...  ;D

Well I would ride through Rocky Mountain National Park. See how well the Raider does at over 11,000 ft. altitude ;) I know my new 1977 Grand Prix did not have much umph at the elevation.  :o

It depends on how many days you have......the closest place from your location would probably be Colorado (Skyline Dr, Loveland Pass, Estes Park, San Juan Skyway Loop which includes the Million Dollar Hwy) which would cover three or four days or rididng.

If you come up Colorado way, would be a pleasure to show you a few of the little known roads around my area (southern Colorado) and get in some riding time with you all.

Wife and I rode through CO on 160 (southern CO).  On the return from MO, we took I-70 (fastest way across Kansas) to Denver, then southwest on the 9 and worked our way down to 50 and then to Montrose.  Montrose to Durango on 550 is one of the prettiest rides in the world - takes you down the Million Dollar Highway.  For you, that forms a serious loop around CO and IMO, Hwy 160 was built with motorcycles in mind.

Think about coming out for WARR 2013.  Check the last post I put on WARR 2013 thread (page 6) - showing some top rated drives and routes in the northern Rockies.

From Mississippi? hmmm... come across and roll up through Taos into colorado and turn west... cross either Cumbres pass with a quick dip back into New Mexico and go up through Chama or over Wolf creek to get to Durango.

Run up through Silverton and Ouray to Montrose... work NW to Flaming Gorge then North on a fast run through Idaho and over Lost Trail pass into Montana and on to Missoula...

...or angle east and come up through Jackson Hole and out the NE exit of Yellowstone and over Bear Tooth... or west out through West yellowstone... into Idaho... or keep on N/NW to Missoula

Be sure to stop at the Harley Dealer on the west end of Missoula for a cup of coffee at the hut there. The coffee sucks but the Ladies are Awesome!  :P

Then west over Lolo pass and down the Lochse river... through Idaho, some great roads there... with the Pacific just a couple days west... or... back NE to Glacier and roll over Goin' to the Sun road and then make the long roll across Montana to the Black Hills...

... and that, will scratch about a part of a sliver of 2% of what you've got to choose from... Confused?  ;D

you could just fill the tank... pick a direction... grab your handles and roll!  ;D

Hey SweetTooth, you mentioned riding 50-60 and nobody bothered to respond.   :rotfl: :rotfl:  Most of us like to cruise faster than that.  Ruby develops a harmonic between 60 and 65 causing a handlebar vibration that numbs my hands.  No issues under 60 or over 65; therefore, I do most cruising around 70 BUT on 2-lane backroads with the wife, I always stay under 60...with the wife not on, I JackLink and feed my wild side.   O8O O8O

Me to. Mine likes stayin at 65 and above. Thats normally how i am goin. Try stay around 75 on inter state. Above that it starts to empty the tank a lot quicker.
