Powdercoat tins

Why don't many people powdercoat the tins? Is it lack of color/design that you can do powdercoating?

I sent Ares a spur of the moment design yesterday, and he asked that question - why don't you powdercoat the tins - because I'm not doing anything fancy.

Primarily because you can't get the depth with powder coating.

But if you're looking for that matte black look, that's okay.

And I've seen some chrome powdercoat in many colors that has all kinds of depth.

Do they bake the powdercoat on and if they do is there anything that could get damaged inside the tank from the heat?

I did a quick Google Image Search and here's what I found.

I did see a lot of questions regarding the issues on what all had to be done to do a tank.  I didn't read them in any detail though.

Mine is now clear powder coated.
I removed everything prior and re-installed it after the process because the tank was chemically stripped.
The powder coating is only on the outside.
I didn't use a tank sealer on the inside, it's just the raw steel.
It didn't look like there was anything done to the stock tank on the inside.

Only issue is the one pic looks like the guy spilled gas when filling and it damaged the finish

I'm not seeing that one.

I always wipe off gas immediately with water and then pat dry and then as soon as I get home clean it better and polish it up.

That looks to me like he let it set there for a while and didn't clean it up right away.

I've thought about doing the same thing for a while now.  Seeing this thread actually kinda made me starting thinking about it more.  I searched on Google and ironically came across a Raider that was powder coated.
