PCV install questions
« on: Dec 19, 2012, 04:30:36 PM »
Probably a stupid question but I am purchasing a PCV from someone so it is just the unit. I know I need to get the O2 eliminator separately.

What I am wondering is where the connectors go. I have looked online at their install instructions and I am seeing 2 connectors connect on the right side under the engine cover and 1 connects to a brown and black wire in the wiring harness. Then the o2 eliminator and the ground wire. Where do the other 2 connectors go? I am seeing there is 5 connectors 4 white and 1 clear-ish.

Not a stupid question unless you already know the answer.

There are two large wiring harnesses connected under the tank.  When you split the connectors you have four connectors.  Each one gets connected to one of the connectors on the PCV.  Don't worry, you can't connect them incorrectly because they are all different.  The other one is the power connection under the seat and there is a black ground wire.

I think there are installation instructions on the powercommander.com website.

Ok so under the tank there is actually 4 not 2. I have the powercommander.com instructions and the picture looks like ther are only 2 there. Thanks for the info.

When you unplug them you'll have 4: 2 male and 2 female.

You have to plug the PCV in-line with the connectors already on the bike.  The key being in-line.  I had the same confusion until I noticed that.

After I read TRaider_John I started thinking and when t84a responded it was a big face palm. That makes complete sense. Why I was thinking it was disconnecting the old and leaving the one side dangling and not doing in line. Thanks everyone. I can't wait to receive it and get it installed.
