Handlebar questions
« on: Dec 24, 2012, 02:59:53 PM »
So, having just wrecked the bike, I'll be looking for several parts, one of which is the handlebars. I kind of want to go aftermarket with these and was looking at the LA Choppers. They have two pullback options, though, and I'm not sure about which I'd prefer. I like the geometry of the stock setup, so would the 6.5" pullback be the best bet to roughly maintain the stock geo, or are the 9" pullback's worth the cost of the additional extended cables I'd have to get?

Are there any other manufacturers I should consider? Thanks all.

Tough question really.........It depends on how tall you are and what is comfortable for you in your riding position.

I have the 9" pullbacks and I'm 6'1" tall, so maybe take the judgement from that.

I sit upright and love the position. For me, changing to the 6.5" pullbacks wouldn't have been worth all the effort. Having said that, you need to change yours due to your spill, so maybe the 6.5" may do.

Good Luck with your decision

As stated, go with whatever feels the best for you.  If you really like the stock setup then you don't need to try anything else, just find what is closest to the stock and you will be good to go.

So what's the stock pullback, roughly?

Several ways to measure it,  you can measure the riser and pull back separately or all together, I like all together, measure from the center point of where the risers meet the triple tree, come straight out parallel to the ground to the point where the ends of the grips are aligned.  The stock has an 11" pull back that way.  Other companies measure the pull back from where the bars attach to the top of the riser straight out to where grips are aligned.  You will need to know how the company gets their pull back measurement before you buy or take the chance of being very disappointed when you get the bars.

Hi - I'm 5' 2" and I find that I have to reach for my handle bars.  I have been looking for a while for either risers or handlebars.  Can't seem to find risers that will bring my handlebars back, so I am now looking at the "Super Radius T-Bar with 9" Pullback".  Has anyone bought these for their Raider?

Dimensions are:
11.125" End Rise - not quite sure what this means
33" Width
9" Pullback

The 6.5" LA Choppers aren't much more than stock. I forget the actual numbers but, I called and asked before I purchased mine. I'm 5'10" and they suit me just fine.
