Mods Ordered - Need install dos and don'ts

So i just order the barons wicked curves slash cut exhaust, barons big air kit, and la choppers 6.5in pullback t-radius drag bars from phat performance totalling $992.85. I am so freaking excited to get and install these mods. I dug up my money tree and it is now nonexistent but i am going to have a great looking bike hehe.

If anyone has and tips and pointers for the install of these products it would be greatly appreciated. I am moderately skilled around the garage but could use any tips to make the installs as smooth as possible.

-You'll need a jack for the exhaust.  This is because you have to mount the one pipe facing straight down tighten nearly all the way then crank the pipe up into position.  Make sure you don't reinstall the rear little heat guard backwards.  Use new gaskets.


-BAK depends on if you are moving the coils.  Regardless I'd get a longer CCV hose.  I route mine behind rear cylinder then down by kickstand where it can't be seen.
-T-bars...too much to list.  Look up some of the install threads.  Also check your control stays...if they don't fit (too small) for the bars existing holes PM me and I'll tell you about the best solution.

Make sure the bars fit before you do any removal of wires/lines.

If you get stuck at any point, step back, reevaluate, have another beer, dive back in...

Bars will by far be the biggest pain the butt since all the wires are internal....  Don't let small ears around you when you're fishing the wire into the new bars...

And make sure you have enough hose/wire before disassembly.

Make sure you order a lot of extra patience before attempting those bars. If you're not a drinker, you may want to consider taken it up.

the schematics for the stock exhaust on the raider shows 3 exhaust gaskets. Will i need 3 new gaskets for the wicked curves exhaust or will i just need 2?

I only used 2.  Where is the third one on the schematic..on the stock pipes it could be where the pipes enter the collector.

The third gasket is for the 90 degree exhaust manifold where it connects to the motor.  Only 2 gaskets will be needed for the exhaust swap.

should i go ahead and replace that third one for the exhaust manifold while i'm at it or should it be okay? My bike has 8,500 miles on it.

You won't be taking the exhaust manifold off, so there 's no need to replace the gasket.  Removing that manifold is not an easy task. I've had mine off for porting and polishing, but it's not fun.

thanks budzo for the info. My exhaust, big air kit, and bars will be here on friday. I am going to install exhaust on friday and start with the rest on sun afternoon. I can feel that it is going to be quite a project on the bars and big air kit. Looking forward to seeing the dramatic change in looks that these mods will make for my bike.

At the end of the month i am ordering some other cosmetic upgrades that i have not seen anyone use yet. Will post pics when it is complete. Till then i am going to keep in on the down low. Should be pretty awesome though if it works.
