2. Mechanical
As purchased, the bike did not run. This ended up being due shift shaft breakage. It appears that the shifter took major impact and broke the linkage, and the shift shaft. The broken piece of the shift shaft (see picture) lodged into the primary gears and prevented them from turning. It was either providence or dumb luck that I found the part without having to disassemble the entire engine. Once removed, the engine started right up! HUGH sigh of relief that was.
Being cheap, I couldn't see paying OEM prices (even discounted) to repair the front part of the linkage....

3. Lights
Kudos and thanks to Chilly
. It amazes me that the Victory headlight looks so much more Raidery than the OEM one. And, this was a much better price than a new OEM replacement. We be very happy. When we purchased our first/other Raider, it came with the passing lights. We
love
them. Whenever we go into a turn and night, we can see where the bike is going, as compared to seeing what we have just hit. :- ) So, naturally, we had to have a set. They may not be the coolest/sexiest/manliest looking accessory, but we wouldn't go out at night without them.
While installing the Victory light, it wasn't obvious what to do with the temperature sensor. After a couple of unsuccessful attempts placing them under the top of the tree, we drilled two holes in the bottom of the light (see pictures, below), and tapped the smaller one for the screw. The sensor sticks out at the back of the the protected slot under the light. It is in the airstream, outside the bucket, and mostly protected.

4. Bars
The original bars made it through the accident if reasonably good shape. The risers and bar holder, on the other hand, were bent and cracked, respectively. Since I'm a short guy (5'10") and need the bars a bit closer to me to be comfortable on long rides, we replaced the original set with LA Chopper 9" radius. They do end up a couple of inches closer. Will see if it is enough. The clutch line from the clutch M/C is quite tight -- more than I like; would like to have another 1/2 inch. We can get that if the line is routed on the back side of the tree. Not sure if that is a good idea....

5. Hand Controls
The Master Cylinders for the front brake and clutch were pretty beat up. Originally, the plan was to replace them. Then, sticker shock. So, we decided to put our belt sander and buffing wheel to work. Had to take off a fair amount of material. It was a bit difficult to not lose the aesthetics of the lines. If you look closely, especially on the clutch side, you can tell that significant reshaping took place. Not perfect, but not bad. Could have done more, but there is a point where one says "good enough." After all, at some point I will be behind a gravel truck....

Looking forward to seeing this progress. Do you mind if I asked what you paid for it in that condition?
