Any one actually have a Raider one?

LOL. Stupid me already had it. Didn't realize it was shared with Liners.

Thanks Swo for hooking me up with realization. I used the link you sent and said "Shoot, this is the same thing I already have.". Then I actually looked at it and noticed the Raider speedo to. I never looked past the pictures of the Roadliner and then Liner speedo in first pages.

Excuse me while I go and bang my head against the wall. See if I can knock some sense into myself.

Pardon my ignorance but I just bought my first Raider which is a 2010 so are they still the same as the '08 regarding the service manual?

Thanks!

Good question.  4Yes, my dealer is using the same service manual for 2008-2010 and he doesn't ex[ect it to change for 2011.

I could've used this link about $87 ago. Haha. Gotta say mine paid for itself today just for the wiring diagram. :-)

Just want to say "Thanks" big time.  I'm having some service work done at a local (non-Yamaha) shop and to be able to give specs is really important to me.  Had a minor disagreement with my Yamaha shop over belt tension and now my trust level is wavering.  I ended up buying a belt tension gauge to check it myself and it was way out of specs.  The mechanic used his hand and said it was fine (it wasn't).  The shop basically works on Harleys, but is wanting to expand to the metrics and seems to listen.  They put on my new rear tire (Avon Cobra 240) and everything was spot on.  So, going to give them a try at service and now I can give them specs, volumes, torque, etc.  Again, many thanks.

I downloaded it and it was of major benefit in installing the new pipes.

Somewhere in there I found the torques specs for all bolts on the bike.  The torque on the exaust bolts was a major concern in swapping the pipes out.

I bought a cd of the manual off of eBay for about $6.00. That's fine, if you have your laptop in your garage and can refer to it between each bolt removal, but I also found a guy somewhere on another board who sells PRINTED copies of service manuals for lots of bikes for $30. This thing is about 2" thick, and is exactly the same as the one I bought off eBay. Sure, you could print it out yourself, but the cost of paper and printer ink, not to mention your time to print the whole thing out makes it worth the $30 to me! At first I was skeptical about buying it, thinking that I might get ripped off like so much of eBay's crap is, but this guy is legit. And, it's printed with a laser printer, so the ink will not run if you spill beer or water on it (or completely disappear!) like ink jet printed stuff does. If someone wants his e-mail, I'll look it up and put it in a message.

Whether it is a $6 CD or a FREE down;oad, you can just print the pages you need for the job you are doing.  That's better thanprinting 200 pages you will never use or paying $30 for them.

Several of the procedures in the shop manul begin with this step: "Set the parking brake."
What? Do they bother to proof-read these things before printing them?

Hey guys,
is there still a working link somewhere that does not link to the Roadliner Midnight manual but really that of the Raider?

I cannot find it anywhere at all.

Thanks  a lot and a happy new year to you all.

I don't know that anyone has posted a service manual for the Roadliner. Being this is mainly a Raider forum, most posts are related to the Raider.

maybe someone knows where a service manual for the Roadliner can be found

I think this was a misunderstanding. I am actually looking for the Raider manual but some of the links I have found in the forum lead to the Roadliner manual.

I did not find a link for the Raider manual yet.

Just checked again and you are right. I had downloaded this before but did not realize that it is the combined manual of the Roadliner and Raider in one. When I saw some of the drawings (e.g. of the head lights and speedo) I recognized them as the Roadliner's but did not see the additional drawings showing the Raider.

Thanks ;)

Problem solved.

Yes, anything applicable to an XV19C...the manual has information for the Roadliner/Stratoliner. too.  Some of the specs (spring length and rate, wiring diagrams, etc.) is different between the Raider and the Roadliner, so pay attention to that.  But a Raider is a Raider as far as the service  manual is concerned.

I must be missing a page from the download as the numbered component listing for the wiring diagram isn't present.  I don't know what a box number 12 is without a program.  The wiring diagram looks very strange to me or my eyes have finally gone south.
Title: Re: Raider Service Manual
Post by: TRaider_John on May 31, 2012, 03:14:14 pm
The key is a couple pages before the wiring diagram.  There are some blanks between them.  be careful to use the Raider key and diagram becasue they are different from the 'Liner.
Title: Re: Raider Service Manual
Post by: sundancer87 on May 31, 2012, 03:54:46 pm
Ah so, thanks for that bit of info.  I wouldn't have thought to scroll up to look for the listing.  Still, all in all it's a strange looking layout of the wiring.  I'm accustomed to having the head light and turn signals on the left of the diagram and then progressing through the bike and its wiring to the tail light as the components are wired.

This one is a little tough to decipher but I'll have to study it more closely.

It is actually laid out pretty well.  As you page through the manual you will find shaded diagrams showing you the starting circuit, lighting, etc.  Not too bad, really.

So, I clicked the link for the service manual and the page I'm looking for shows the Roadliner. I'm trying to find out the size Phillips bolt that holds the license frame to fender on both sides. I must have shaken one loose last week and lost it over a railroad track today. I have the one bolt. I'm hoping the dealer will have one, but would like to know the specs on the bolt so I can check prices online to compare. The fender is off and I'm hoping to get one tomorrow at the dealer. And yes, I will use blue Loctite on this one!

Does anyone have a link to a .pdf with just the Raider? Or anyone know the size of bolt? I'll bring the one that stayed on in to the dealer tomorrow am.

I'm also wondering if anyone else with the Kuraykyn sub fender mount has a hint to keep the LED tail light from being so loose in the frame?

Thanks!

Dave

just a guess but prolly a safe one... id say its either a m6 or m8 ... take up the slack in the taillight with some rubber washers on the mounting screws , that may help

Many of the anti-virus progs have sold their users out.  For a fee they will flag a file ot site as hazardous when it merely distributes intellectual property without a fee.
