Speedo custom faceplate install Insructions

Hey all,
       I've looked at as many threads as i could find the last couple of days on how to install custom face plates and was wondering if TRaider_John's is the final version of proper installation technique?I also can't find that link, just mention of it. Any help would be appreciated as mine should be here tomorrow.Thanks in advance for all your help.I am as physced as all of you were a few years ago when most of you did yours.

Yes sir I have looked at that but there was something about how to calibrate the speedo by putting it on -3 mph and then lifting it over the stop peg?

Before I put my needles on, I made sure I had a full tank of gas.  Then I take it out to the bike & plug it up, I then put my gas needle on at the full mark, & put my speedo needle on at the 0mph line.  Reinstall the faceplate cover & go for a test ride, you should be dead on or within 2 mph of where you need to be.  Motorcycle speedos are only accurate from the factory by +/-   5%-7%......so chances are you're gonna set it more accurate than it came originally

I got lucky with the speedo needle, I eyeballed it in line with the stop needle and it was perfect.  Have even had it calibrated with radar from a police officer buddy of mine and it's dead on to what his radar says.  The gas needle is a different story.  I have not been able to get it right.  I have it as close as I think I will get it but I never used it to begin with.  I ride for 120 miles and get gas, I never hit the reserve light.  IMO using the reserve gas can cause the cracking problem in the fuel pump housing.
