Open Primary Drive Cover
« on: Aug 17, 2011, 08:49:15 pm »
I have been wanting an open primary drive cover since I bought this bike.  I bought a used one off of ebay and started cutting it up.  Here are the pictures from start to finish of what it looks like.  I still have to find a location to move the regulator/rectifier.  I think I am going to pinstripe the pulley in lime green to match the flames.  This is the first rough draft, so let me know what you think.

Brent

This is after I machined the 5" hole out of both covers and got the sheetmetal started on the inside

First try at bondo and primed!

Painted to match motor.  It matches perfect.

On the bike the pulley still needs to be cleaned:

That is a cool, looks great!
I want to do that, and stuff some LEDs in there to light up the pulley!
I hope you don't mind me using this idea on my bike. :)

    Regards,
    Mike H.

Looks good.  I like the pinstriping idea but it would also kick A$$ to have green LEDs in there.

If I recall LA Choppers sells an open primary kit for the raider

      Capt_Zoom,

I did not know that LA Choppers had a product like that. Thanks for the info!

Very nice work Mr. Hodge.  That is 1 heck of a cool idea.  I hope you don;t mind too much, but I'm sure there will be a few to copy your idea.  Looks great.

@Capt_Zoom: I agree with you on the LEDs lighting up the primary drive area.

love it!!!!...actually have given a guy in tenn. the dimensions for a similar setup.  He makes them for the roadstars.  Think the bike looks way better with this setup.

Brent...   I fixed one of your images on the initial post (your begin/end tags were messed up)

Also, now that you've used yours as the guinea pig... I look forward to Tejas doing that to mine.   ;D

n00b speaking up ... love the look and I assume by those that have seen it before, there is no issue with dirty/grime getting in there?

Chucky mentioned this to me months ago.  I want to say its actually a part for the warrior or roadliner but it fits the raider.  You'd have to ask him to get the particulars.
