i would think plastic welding would work for this, but lucky i've not had to find out..

46k kms on my '14 Raider S and I thought it was a none issue.. never had a problem, i see a red reserve light often
often enough that when my fuel sender (in tank) unit died i was pissed! but it was at season's end so i did without till spring.

never even thought twice about riding a few miles with the pump chuggin' away.

i've actually carried a gerry can strapped to the back for when i know the reserve wont get me to the station.

Not sure how long it actually took for the guy to complete the prep and accomplish welding (video is time compressed), but you can replace a Raider fuel pump in less than an hour.  That video just seems like a lot of work for a more-than-likely temp repair.

Also, PM WooDog on this forum - he has a channel to getting parts at very reasonable prices.
