Oil filter compatibility
« on: Sep 18, 2019, 03:25:32 am »
Changed the engine oil today and replaced the filter as well. Went with K&N 303 in the past, used a Mobil1 110A this time. Both filters s
Fit to multiple cars and motorcycles. Are there any differences known which favor one over the other for our Raider? Just curious whatyou guys think

Been using the K&N 303 for 15K miles with no issues and will continue and I run Mobil 1 oil.

I haven't had any experience with either.  I use a WIX 51358 filter and change it with every oil change.
This issue is very much like "which oil is best".  Very subjective unless an individual has a bad experience or is looking for something specific in an oil filter.
What made you switch?  Did you have a bad experience with the K&N?

The internet has some independent discussions about the oil filter technology:

    and many more.

Here is a list of filters which might be considered but this is not a comparison.

I just put on a Mobil 1 M1-110A and Castrol Actevo 20W-50 in mine. I had good luck with it in my VFR 1200F before getting the Raider so we'll see how it does in the V-Twin versus the V-4.  So many opinions it's hard to follow.  I thought about Rotella T6 15W-40 but changed my mind at the last minute. I ran it in a few of my other bikes but didn't want to take the chance with the Raider.

Iíve been using the T-6 Rotella 5-40 in the Raider and two other bikes for years. The ol which oil and filter question.  Seventy five different answers and there all right.

Good to know that you've had good luck with the Rotella T6. Maybe next change I'll pick some up if I don't like the Actevo. Thanks for the info!
