Thanks I am debating to get a pair now or right before my June Pensacola/Panama FL trip but my Yamaha Dealership will NOT put on a 240mm on the stock rim as they say they can only the size the manufacturer recommended for the rim so they will only put back on 210mm and I can't find a 210mm Avon Cobra rear tire. So I will probably have to go to a non-Yamaha shop to have the 240mm put on but I hate going to any other place besides the Dealership as if anything ever goes wrong I can always say, "I bought it brand new with 1 mile on it and you have done all the service on it so...…" implying that if anything goes wrong it was them that messed it up and not someone else.

Bring it somewhere else.  A tire replacement by someone other than the dealer is not going to void your warranty.  My Yamaha dealer put a 240 on mine at 9400 miles and there's been a 240 on it since.

Is there another Yamaha dealer around? My Yamaha dealer actually rides a Raider with a 240.

Thanks for the advice. I have another Yamaha Dealership about 30 miles away so I will call them then go by and confirm they can put on the 240mm on the stock rear rim. I will give this a try in a few months thanks.

Got the below response from Avon(answered next day!!) and it makes sense after checking the tires and finding twi(tread wear indicator).
The large pieces I noticed and referred to earlier are really just stabilizers according to them.  Makes sense as they are in the largest/longest slashes.

However if the wear bars are really set at 1mm like they say, then you should replace the tire when they get close to flush or flush with them as that is basically going to be a racing slick at that point!!
Anyway, mystery solved for me :)

    Their reply:

    Hi,

    Thanks for your enquiry.

You are referring to the blocks within the grooves which are part of the pattern and improve stability and wear. The wear bars are set to 1mm and are marked on the top of the sidewall with twi.

    Hope this helps

    Regards

I was holding out for my IRS Refund, thankfully it came before Wal-Mart decided to roll-up the price. :P Ordered mine today. ;)

With the 240 does anyone have any issues with it rubbing against the belt guard?  I have a Cobra belt guard and there's not a whole lot of room even with a Bridgestone 210 back there

No problems with the stock belt guard. IDK if the Cobra belt guard has the same dimensions.

Cobra belt guard is 1/2 inch wider than stock. I have about 3/8 of an inch before it's rubbing against the 210 never mind the 240. I'll probably stick with the 210 unless I switch the belt guard back to stock

I’d run no belt guard if I had to to get that pos 210 off there.

Think mine is an older Kuryakan, solid chrome. Plenty of room with 240 Avon.

 Just got my forks and wheels/tires back last week and mounted everything back Friday night. Took my heat shield off rear rotor and had my belt guard off also but with my pulley not being chrome it just didn't do it for me. Love me some chrome man so ended up putting the guard back on ;D
