I'm in a hardware bind, need help!
« on: Jul 04, 2020, 10:48:01 am »
Ok,
I had a Yamaha quick release backrest the came with my bike. I was not going to use it so I sold it and it ended up going to Canada.
The backrest was disassembled and shipped in pieces. One plastic bag had the bolts and hardware to put it together, another plastic bag had the extended bolts and mounting rings to hold the backrest to the bike.
When it went through customs the box was opened, inspected and re-taped. Of course the bag containing the extended bolts and mounting rings never made it back in the box.
This guy is stuck in Canada with a backrest he cant install and I cant find the mounting stuff anywhere online.
Any ideas on what I can do?
Thanks, guys!

Dirtiegirtie did some extensive work on how to DYI using an Eluder's quick release hardware. The thread above is your best option. I could not find quick release hardware for the Raider anywhere. I called Yamaha and a few other parts places with no luck

I also received CAD drawings from a member and made solidworks models. I can send those to you if you want to get them quoted. I uploaded then into protomold's website and got a quote... I think it was about $400 for a single set but if you could get a group buy together of 5 people then the price went down to about $235 a set. Maybe you can find a machine shop that will do it cheaper?

I sold my backrest on the forum and it had the original parts list with it. Maybe the new owner
( bradypunch )can take a pic and post it? The rear bolts are 25 mm threads I believe and can be bought at Loews with hex heads and can probably fab spacers from there
