Cracked fuel pump housing fix
« on: May 02, 2021, 11:20:06 pm »

Finally got around to finishing this.

I'm posting this here first, so you guys are the first to see it. If you feel that it needs modifications, let me know and I'll adjust it if possible and post the new version.

Please keep this between us for the moment. I will post this on the Raider facebook page soon, but I want civilised comments and constructive criticism before I throw myself into the fire.

Thanks
Marc

Firstly, I'd like to say how detailed the PDF file is and that anyone attempting this would have a good start from what you have shown.

I have read it over and for me, I would have to read it several times to understand the detail behind it and I'm someone who has taken out a fuel pump as it failed (housing ok though). The important factors for me is getting the correct items like the right fuel line etc, but taking your time is crucial when cutting the housing open.

I think its a job that would be easy when you have done it once as any pitfalls made on the first attempt would be rectified second time around. I can hold a spanner so to speak so could probably do this but it wouldn't be for everyone as you have mentioned.

Getting the seating correct on the seal/s is vital and as you have said, checking for leaks is a must once you have done it.

A great cost saving solution to a relatively common issue, so I thank you on behalf of Raider owners for taking the time to come up with this solution.

You could make up a "kit" of parts and sell to those that may require the parts.

    Well done

Sounds like you might be having fuel pressure issues... Hopefully my how-to will help you.
      And you're welcome.

Very nicely done! That should be very helpful to anybody trying to have a more permanent fix!

Too bad I didn't get it done before you replaced your housing though.
