No signal lights
« on: May 05, 2021, 04:01:06 pm »
So my signal lights stopped working! Think it’s in the switch on the handle bars. I sprayed contact cleaner in the switch with no luck. I had this problem before maybe 6 months ago or so and when I sprayed contact cleaner in there they started working again but this time nothing. You can’t just order the switch from Yamaha you have to order the entire housing and everything for like $175. I’m not good at electrical stuff and maybe could be the signal relay behind rear mud flap. Gunna have my brother look at it since he’s a mechanic. Anyone else ever had isssues with the signal switch or the signal relay?

I didn't think you used turn signals when you ride?  Did see you signaling with the boss finger though.... ;D

That’s funny, my turn signals never turn off.

I'm guessing if you're saying switch, it's all of them and not just the back.  Really dumb question, but did you check the fuse?

Yeah no signals front or rear and no blinking arrows on the speedometer! Yes the fuse was the 1st thing I checked? Me and my brother also was able to disassemble the switch on the handlebar and everything looked good and tested it with ohm meter! The cheapest thing which still pretty expensive is to try a new signal flasher box! I hate dealing and figuring out electrical stuff!  :(

Clayton, you and me both, electrical is a nightmare for me also.  Run down a problem and it leads you to the next one and so on.j  Good luck, worse case scenario is you will have to spend that $175.00.  Hope not.

Has the tank been removed recently?  Have you been inside the headlight bucket?  Just thinking maybe one of the cannon-plugs may have slipped (if not properly engaged).  What other recent work on the bike?

Sounds like the flasher relay to me but I'm not an electrician but I have been shocked before

Clayton any update? Did your brother find anything?
