BlasterX glitch with Chilly's cruise control
« on: Aug 01, 2021, 12:32:53 pm »
I was recently made aware that my BlasterX tail light was randomly flashing. Turns out the light was intermittently flashing its startup sequence when I released the brakes.

Just FYI, my tail light settings are as follows:
   1> Startup sequence -- OFF
2> Brake alert pulses -- NO pulses -- constant brake light
3> Running light brightness -- Maximum
4> Brake light brightness -- Maximum

At first I thought my BlasterX was crapping out on me, but after investigating I traced the problem back to Chilly's cruise control. More specifically the brake signal relay. It seems the relay is causing voltage feedback spikes that make the BlasterX's internal control unit glitch. I don't think the OEM tail light would be affected at all.

I have contacted Chilly to make him aware of the issue and my fix for it, and he will be investigating and modifying where needed.

I have the 2008-2014 version of the BlasterX, and the cruise control kit was purchased in May 2021.
Attached is a video link of my tail light before and after I fixed the problem.

I'm starting to think I might be the only one who had this undesired interaction...
