Are Raiders increasing in value more than I realize?
« on: Aug 05, 2021, 08:28:55 am »
These are the ads currently on c-list within 200 miles of me:
- 2009 for $7,500 https://nh.craigslist.org/mcy/d/farmington-2009-yamaha-raider-1900-cc/7354004952.html
- 2014 for $12,000 https://hudsonvalley.craigslist.org/mcy/d/middletown-2014-yamaha-raider/7359087208.html
- 2014 for $14,000 https://newyork.craigslist.org/fct/mcy/d/bridgeport-2014-yamaha-raider-1900/7354123765.html

And this one... a 2012 for $19,500!!! https://cnj.craigslist.org/mcy/d/south-river-yamaha-raider-1850cc-110/7358992769.html

I bought my 2011 Raider S with the Ivan flash, airbox mod, V&H 2-into-1, OEM windshield, passenger backrest with rack, bags, with under 5k miles for $6,500 2.5 years ago.

According to a Craigslist ad, I can pick up a brand new 2014 (0 miles) in AZ from a dealer for $9k.

This is the same exact bike I have before I repainted it.

I know prices on used bikes are up a ton in the last year due to reduced availability of new bikes (part shortages) and an increase in new riders due to the pandemic, but these prices on all things motorsports are insane. I tried to buy a go-kart for my kids back in February... two orders ultimately cancelled due to it not being available. Everything used was priced ridiculous... and selling! I just can't wait for new bike availability to increase and all these new riders to realize they've put 120 miles on their new bike in the first year... should be a glut of used bikes in the next year or two.

I hope that's true. It will drive the prices way down and maybe I could pick up a Stryker or Honda Fury/Stateline at a great price. I think they'd be fun to customize.

I think the one asking $7500 ***might*** get it... the others are way off and just looking to make someone feel good about a 1/3 price cut when they overpay. The one for 19500 has no idea what hes got and probably listed it based on some cycle trader price he saw for a cvo with similar mileage.

Agreed!  He has it listed as 1850cc. Any Raider owner is NOT going to list it as that.

A lot of craigslist ads make zero sense to me.  I bought my 14 raider in March after the seller dropped the price.  The bike had a lot of mods I would have done anyway plus a few I wouldnt have considered but now that I have them - their ok.

The listings you've pointed out, look to me like guys who's wives have told them to sell the bike and they listed it.  They can point to an ad and say they're trying.

I have a different mindset than most, when I'm ready to get rid of something I price it so it's gone quickly.  I have dealing with stupid questions and a good price tends to eliminate most of those.

When shopping for mine I was hard pressed (a month ago) to find one lower than $8999. Most were $9999-$11999 here in FL for bikes with 20k/miles on them. It didnít matter if it was a 2008 or a 2013.  Accessories, dented tanks, didnít matter, all overpriced. I jumped on mine due to it being the only one at the time to be sun $7k.

Just quickly, I searched facebook marketplace for raiders within 500 miles of orlando (which ends up with a radius of basically florida), and found at least 10 raiders for sale under 8k.

Here are some of the better ones:

      2011 , 2500mi, $7900:

      2013, 850mi, $7250: (this one looks immaculate)

These all have been recently listed after I bought my bike.  I was talking about a month ago.

Yeah, i see where your coming from.  thought it looked clean for an 08. I see those bars alot for older riders that get a carpel tunnel thing where their hands go numb. $5500 with 9k on it though? he probably takes 5k, maybe 4.5, and those bars swap for $100...

Those handlebars were on the Virago I bought off my dad. Pretty sure they're stock for the Virago. I was not a fan. They were one of the first things I replaced.
