. . . but how much did you end up spending total doing it yourself?

Fuel pump with shipping $469.00
Fuel pump gasket $7.25

2.5 hours.

It be nice to have a wheel chock, to have the bike standing upright. Sub tank and  fuel pump are on the leaning left side.
There is some more gas spillage when you remove the pump with the bike sitting on the kickstand.

Japanese hands are obviously smaller than mine. Its a little tight. It was easier for me to get it in, then to remove it.

Where did you get your pump? It's starting to look like I'm going to have to do this soon.

Great to hear Wolf!  So glad you got it taken care of.  I asked in one of the other threads, but how much did you end up spending total doing it yourself?

Oh and if you need to rack up some miles, feel free to head down to the Phoenix area and let me get a first hand look at your Raider.

When you're ready to leave Phoenix just swing on by Yuma...

Now you guys really got me thinking. ;)

Come on down!  I'll put you up for a night as long as you don't smoke in my house.

That's not bad.  I think my dealer wanted to charge me over $900 the first time.  This is the place that charges $110 per hour labor. Thanks to everyone here I was able to get him to price match the parts and I was thinking it got it down to about the $650 range.  When I took it the second time to a more reasonably priced dealer, they said the bill was something like $500-$600, but I didn't pay any of it since Yamaha covered it.

If it happens with my new Raider (knock on wood), then I may give installing myself a shot.

Use a floor jack under the rear of the frame, and some ratchet straps of the handle bars to the rafters to stablize. Thats what I do when I need to get the bike upright for service.

It wasn't too hard. 2.5 hours.
Now that I've done it, I think I'd be able to get it done in 1.5 hours.
The service manual is helpful to have.

I tried it out, used another excess piece of same plastic from housing, used a soldering iron to "weld it together.  Bought me some time, but if's it's cracked.. replace it.

Replace the whole pump or that part?  I didn't know you get just the housing. If so can you share?  Thanks

Pretty sure folks said you cannot just get the housing but a quick search on an oem parts diagram should say if the are separate or a unit...
