EXUP Actuator Removal

alrighty so i got the plug today, plugged it in and it didnt kill the 17 code. i found and did the diagnostic sequence and now im really confused. here is what i found in the sequence pertaining to the error codes

d61 - 00
d62 - 1
d70 - 00

so its showing i have one error in the memory, but none active, yet when the key is turned on and the needles are done i get the time and the 17 code. whats going on??

I will send you my exup servo to clear your codes.  Then you can try using the plug.  Guess I gotta post a video with the plug in place to prove that it works.  PM me your address and I'll send it to you.

Well, I don't know what the hell changed from last summer, but first ride out this year and I got the check engine light.  Code 18.  It was intermittent during my ride.  I thought maybe I had a magical Graves plug, but guess not.  Wish I knew what changed from last year... it worked fine.

alrighty i am DONE with the EXUP fix dance. HUGE thanks for budzo for sending me his servo so i could get mine rewired correctly. that is the way i chose to go with it. I left the servo on the bike.

-what you need to know-

as of right now their is no solid 100% fix for getting rid of the codes after removing the exup, PERIOD. save yourself some hassle and just leave it their. that extra noise on startup isnt near as annoying as tossing away money trying a new "fix" for it.

and that my friends is the rest of the story..... lol.

Same hear, just detached the cables and put them in the box with the stock exhaust.

That's what we ultimately figured as well back when. 
I'm guessing you passed on even trying that circuit we sent you as well?
No prob, we just were wondering if it was a working version or not.

Order a servo cover. Makes a huge visual difference.

Yes, but that left the clunky servo motor attached to the frame.  This thread was about trying to remove the servo motor without throwing a code.  You can't just get rid of it because the ECU expects to get feedback from it.

 I agree, that is why I left it on the bike. It does not take away from the bikes apperance and the ECU is happy because it still gets a change of state on the EXUP circuit.

My son just bought a Roadliner and he just put some d&d Slip on's does the bike run and better with the Exup still intack or should he get rid of the cables?

It won't hurt to leave the EXUP intact.  It is wide open at greater than 2500 rpm anyway.  That's where he'll get the advantage of freer breathing exhaust,

OK--I read the whole thread and I have cobra turndowns that were put in by the dealer.

I am going to leave the EXUP in place, my question is with the cables. aren't they attached
to some sort of valve? If you remove them how do you know if the valve is open or closed?

I don't want to remove these cables and the valve is in the wrong position and get worse performance.

The valve the cables were connected to is located on the stock exhaust. The only thing you need to leave on the bike is the servo motor that the cables are connected to. It is pretty easy to turn the motor and remove the cable ends. I would suggest doing so if for no other reason than not having floppy cables that continue to be turned back and forth as you ride. There is no effect on performance by removing the cables at this point.

If you already have the Cobras installed, the valve and cables are already gone.  Only the servo motor is left behind the right frame.  You don't need to do anything but ride.

OK--I just looked on the bike and YEAH IM RETARDED!!!! 

The cables were already taken off and the servo is all thats left.

So I guess that answeres my question
